Delta Force Operator Tyler Grey | Mike Ritland Podcast Episode 121

About this video

Mike Ritland interviews Tyler Gray, a former Army Special Operations soldier (2nd Ranger Battalion and Delta) who now works as an actor, producer, and director on CBS’s SEAL Team. Gray discusses the challenges of portraying military authenticity on television, his transition from operational units to Hollywood, balancing technical accuracy with dramatic storytelling, and his experience recovering from a motorcycle accident that led to burnout and treatment at Warrior’s Heart.

Key takeaways

• Gray explains that maintaining military authenticity on TV requires understanding both tactics and production constraints — he reverse-engineers story requirements to make scenes plausible without revealing actual operational playbooks
• The actor describes how inter-service rivalries diminished after 9/11 when different special operations units began working together in combat, creating mutual respect across communities
• Gray recounts burning out during Season 4 of SEAL Team after a serious motorcycle accident, working through pain on medication, and eventually seeking help at Warrior’s Heart for 42 days
