Former Tier 1 Operator Reveals the Secret Unit Behind Delta Force

About this video

Ritland’s guest, an ISA (Intelligence Support Activity) operator, details his transition from completing the Operator Training Course to joining the tactical detachment supporting Delta Force and SEAL Team Six. He describes ISA’s specialized SIGINT (signals intelligence) capabilities, explaining how he and teammates deployed with reconnaissance elements carrying custom-made collection equipment, often weighing over 125 pounds, to provide mobile intelligence gathering that rivaled stationary facilities. The guest also shares his comparative observations of the tier-one units’ cultures and treatment of support personnel.

Key takeaways

• ISA tactical detachment operators train to embed with Delta and DEVGRU reconnaissance teams, maintaining the same tactical proficiency and infiltration methods to avoid becoming a liability in the field
• According to the guest, ISA employs custom-designed SIGINT equipment developed with NSA and CIA collaboration, with operators often field-testing cutting-edge technology and helping engineers refine it based on operational needs
• The guest observed that Delta Force treats support personnel with greater respect and integration than DEVGRU, where he perceived support staff as somewhat marginalized by assaulters
