God PLEASE Don't Let Them Hit Us - Blown Up in the Humvee with Johnny MF Glenn | Mike Drop Ep. 209

About this video

Johnny Glenn recounts a mission in Afghanistan where his team’s vehicle was hit by an IED, resulting in severe injuries to multiple team members. Glenn describes providing emergency medical care to his teammate Dave, who sustained catastrophic injuries including the loss of both legs, severe facial trauma, and genital injuries. Despite the severity of the situation, Glenn credits his rural upbringing and his father’s hog-cutting experience for helping him manage Dave’s injuries until medical evacuation arrived.

Key takeaways

• Glenn recounts treating Dave’s extensive injuries including amputated legs, genital trauma, and facial wounds, using techniques he learned from his father’s farm work
• Glenn describes how Dave remained conscious and remarkably composed throughout the trauma, even attempting to give medical instructions as the team’s medic
• Glenn reports that Dave survived due to fortuitous timing—specialized surgeons from Germany, including experts in prosthetics and reconstructive surgery, happened to be at the base when he arrived
