Lara Logan full comments on left leaning media & "Professional Suicide"

About this video

Mike Ritland interviews journalist Lara Logan about media bias and objectivity. Logan discusses the overwhelming left-leaning composition of mainstream journalism (citing that 85% of journalists are registered Democrats), the erosion of journalistic standards, and the challenges of maintaining objectivity in today’s polarized media landscape. She shares her personal experiences being targeted for reporting that strayed from prevailing narratives and argues that consolidated ideological control across media, academia, and social platforms poses risks to open discourse.

Key takeaways

• Logan states that 85% of journalists are registered Democrats, creating a structural imbalance in media coverage that she argues is problematic regardless of political direction
• According to Logan, modern journalism has abandoned traditional standards like requiring multiple sources and attempting objectivity, often relying on single anonymous sources and adopting explicitly political stances
• Logan recounts being targeted by Media Matters for America after her Benghazi reporting, illustrating how journalists who deviate from dominant narratives face professional consequences that discourage independent reporting
