MARSOC Raider Michael Bloch Recalls 2022 Blackout Incident | Mike Drop Clips - Episode 152

About this video

Michael Bloch, a former MARSOC Raider, recounts a February 2022 incident in which he experienced a psychotic blackout while on the wakefulness drug modafinil (Nuvigil). Bloch describes how he had been prescribed the medication for over four years without being informed of serious side effects, and while under extreme stress and sleep deprivation, he blacked out, fired his pistol wildly, and was later arrested. He attributes the incident to the medication and argues it was not a criminal action, supported by witness testimony and text messages indicating a medical reaction.

Key takeaways

• Bloch states he was prescribed modafinil for over four years for sleep regulation, later learning the FDA recommends no more than 12 weeks due to psychosis and hallucination risks.
• Bloch recounts that under extreme work stress and sleep deprivation in February 2022, he experienced a complete blackout, fired his weapon into the air and at passing vehicles (injuring no one), and has no memory of the incident until his arrest.
• Bloch argues the incident was caused by an adverse medication reaction rather than criminal intent, citing witness testimonies, text messages, and the drug’s known side effects as evidence.
