Q&A | Mike Drop Episode 1

About this video

Mike Ritland hosts a solo Q&A episode, answering questions from Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube about his tattoos, EDC preferences, Navy SEAL experiences, dog training philosophy, and views on current events. He discusses his scariest mission (the GO PLAT oil platform operation at the start of the Iraq war), his preferred carry gun (Glock 43X), and shares his perspective on topics ranging from social media regulation to Canadian government actions. Ritland emphasizes living in the present and leading by example while maintaining a hands-off approach to others’ lifestyle choices.

Key takeaways

• Ritland identifies the GO PLAT mission at the start of the Iraq war as his scariest mission due to six weeks of buildup and anticipation, though he notes it wasn’t necessarily the most dangerous
• According to Ritland, most dog behavioral issues boil down to lack of impulse control, which he addresses through contrasting consequences (corrections) with rewards (food reinforcement) during training
• Ritland argues that government should require verified social media profiles starting at age 16 (using driver’s license verification) to eliminate anonymous accounts and protect children from documented harms of early social media use
• Ritland views dogs’ ability to live in the present moment as their most respectable trait that humans lack, though he notes both species learn through similar mechanisms of reinforcement and consequence
