Secret Service Agent Reveals What REALLY Happened Inside the Twin Towers on 9/11 | Ep. 308

About this video

Mike Ritland interviews Darren Kinder, a retired US Secret Service special agent who served from 2000 to 2025. Kinder recounts his path from teaching high school history to federal law enforcement, sharing formative stories from his early Secret Service career in New York City. He describes the academy experience, the young and understaffed New York field office culture before 9/11, and several mishaps during his first months as an inexperienced agent, including mistaken surveillance targets and poorly planned arrests.

Key takeaways

• Kinder’s service background stemmed from watching his parents serve others—his father worked with the blind, his mother as a nurse—inspiring both him and his brother toward public service careers
• Kinder attributes pivotal moments to faith rather than coincidence, including meeting a Secret Service agent in a teachers’ lounge whose business card sat in his drawer for two years before he acted on it
• According to Kinder, the New York Secret Service office in 2000 operated with minimal supervision and seniority measured in months, leading to operational mistakes and a ‘Wild West’ culture among young, inexperienced agents
