The Iran War EXPLAINED: Nukes, Oil, Israel and the REAL Reason Behind It All | Ep. 286

About this video

Mike Ritland interviews Clint Bruce, a former Navy SEAL officer, NFL player, and co-founder of Carry the Load. Bruce recounts his journey from being a fifth-string middle school fullback to the NFL and Naval Academy, sharing formative lessons from his father who died when Bruce was young. The conversation covers leadership principles Bruce’s father taught him on his deathbed, Bruce’s decision to leave the NFL to pursue SEAL training, and the value of doing hard things and embracing creativity in special operations.

Key takeaways

• Bruce’s father taught him that leaders willingly address what they don’t want to talk about, say what they don’t want to say, listen to what they don’t want to hear, and plan for what they don’t want to happen
• Bruce emphasizes the distinction between conviction and opinion—conviction will endure through adversity while opinion collapses, a dynamic he observed throughout SEAL training’s ‘will you’ and ‘can you’ phases
• Bruce attributes his football success to persistence through failure: playing scout team for years gave him exponentially more reps and knowledge than starters received, ultimately preparing him for when his opportunity came
