True Crime Deep Dive: John McAfee & Serial Killer Conspiracies | Mike Drop Episode 219

About this video

Alex Cody Foster, a ghostwriter who authored John McAfee’s biography and has worked on multiple serial killer cases, discusses his investigative work and unconventional life with host Mike Ritland. Foster recounts his belief that serial killers operate in sophisticated groups that stage murders as accidents, shares details about his chaotic childhood in Maine and Massachusetts, and describes leaving home at 15 to live in a college dorm. He reveals allegations that McAfee may have been responsible for multiple deaths and explains his theory about organized groups behind the ‘smiley face killer’ drownings.

Key takeaways

• Foster argues there are likely more serial killers operating undetected than the FBI estimates, because some are so sophisticated they make murders appear as accidents or natural deaths.
• Foster claims to believe John McAfee was allegedly responsible for five deaths, information he says is in his book but not the Netflix documentary.
• Foster recounts leaving his mother’s home at age 15 due to her deteriorating mental health following an alleged assault by a police officer, and lived in a college dorm by working in the kitchen.
• Foster theorizes the ‘smiley face killer’ cases involve a coordinated group of several dozen killers staging deaths as accidental drownings over 30+ years.
