About this video

A journalist with experience covering conflicts and celebrity culture describes their career trajectory and approach to reporting. The guest explains how they learned to maintain objectivity by avoiding becoming friends with interview subjects and presenting balanced coverage. They discuss the logistics of war reporting, including travel with minimal equipment and working with local contacts, while emphasizing how Americans often fail to appreciate their own institutions compared to regions lacking basic security and justice systems.

Key takeaways
