We Got Drunk And Came Up With 8 Business Ideas (#540)

About this video

Sam and Shaan return for their annual “drunk ideas” episode, brainstorming half-baked business concepts while Sam drinks Liquid Death sparkling water. They explore ideas ranging from Habit Island (a 42-day retreat in a converted prison to build healthy habits) to Better Than Google (a Facebook group where moms crowdsource advice), a Shaan Box (premium physical newsletter subscription), Gut Shots (healthy shot alternatives for bars), and Divorce Island (a resort for recently divorced people to re-enter dating).

Key takeaways

• The hosts revive their “drunk ideas” format by exploring deliberately flawed business concepts, noting that Liquid Death—originally pitched as a drunk idea—is now approaching an IPO, showing unexpected viability in some half-baked pitches.
• Shaan proposes Better Than Google, a vertical search community where moms ask questions to other moms rather than search engines, framing it as a high-trust recommendation network that could rival search giants if positioned correctly.
• Sam identifies a playable business in frivolous ADA compliance lawsuits against e-commerce sites, where law firms automate filing suits that typically settle for $10-20K, though he frames this as an unethical angry-drunk idea rather than a real recommendation.
• The hosts discuss emerging AI-generated influencers (like Emily Pelini) as a way to own influencer IP and avoid the personal baggage of being a controversial figure like Andrew Tate, suggesting this could disrupt the creator economy.
