shut up and just DO it!! (IT certifications)
About this video
A short motivational video where Chuck tells himself and viewers to stop making excuses and schedule their certification exam immediately. He says he has been working on the CCNP since 2014 — six years — and still has one exam left, the ENCOR, which he has now scheduled for December 15th. He urges viewers to schedule an exam for December, January, or February and commit alongside him. He then lists the exact study tools he will use: the OCG book, Boson’s new courseware for ENCOR, ITProTV for videos, Boson NetSim for labs — which he says he used to pass TSHOOT and notes is 30% off at the time — and Boson ExSim for practice exams, which he describes as tougher than the real exam and designed to look and feel like it.
Key takeaways
- Scheduling the exam date is presented as the forcing function to end procrastination and excuses
- Chuck frames his own case as the example: CCNP pursued since 2014, with only ENCOR remaining and a December 15th test date set
- His ENCOR stack is OCG for reading, Boson courseware for quick coverage, and ITProTV for video instruction
- Labs are called the most important part of Cisco prep; he relies on Boson NetSim’s pre-configured, graded labs instead of building his own images and servers
- Boson ExSim practice exams are used as the readiness check because, he claims, they are harder than the real exam and mimic its look and feel
