Amazon KDP Niche Research | Find New Niches

About this video

The creator presents a free KDP niche research method that treats Amazon’s own categories as a source of niche ideas, following on from his previous video about categories. Instead of starting with a niche, he browses the category tree shown during the KDP upload process and looks for categories that could become a low-content book. In his live example he clicks through nonfiction to a business category where bookkeeping stands out to him, then searches Amazon for bookkeeping using the AMZ Suggestion Expander, which surfaces bookkeeping record book. Filtering to Prime and paperback format, he finds accounting ledger and checking account record books with low sales ranks, citing examples around twelve thousand and thirty-one thousand in books, which he takes as a sign he is onto something. He advises rinsing and repeating through other branches such as education and reference, noting there are many subcategories to explore, while a detour into UFO journals mainly turned up lined notebooks. He frames the whole approach as using only Amazon and free tools.

Key takeaways

• Browse KDP’s category tree during upload as a free source of low-content book niche ideas
• When a category stands out, search that term on Amazon with the AMZ Suggestion Expander to refine it
• Filter results to Prime and paperback to see the actual KDP-style books ranking for the idea
• Check sales ranks, treating low ranks like the ledger-book examples he found as a positive signal
• Rinse and repeat across other category branches, since many niches are hidden in subcategories sellers overlook
