Etsy Account Suspended Closed - (Deactivated)

About this video

The creator tells how his Etsy account was closed without a specific reason given. He says he had just been approved to move to a new place and logged into Etsy from a different computer and IP address in San Diego to download income reports; about 20 minutes later he received an email saying his account was closed because, in Etsy’s wording, his business did not meet the Etsy seller policy, and Etsy would not disclose its internal review criteria. After he appealed and explained, he says Etsy replied that the decision was final. He does not know the exact cause, but suspects two mistakes: logins from very different locations, including his own login that day and his VA logging in earlier the same day from the Philippines, and failing to list a new print provider on his store after switching from Printful to a friend who was printing his shirts. He says the shop held around 3,000 designs and was on track for over $100K in revenue. He presents the closure as a learning experience and says he will move to Shopify to build his own site, audience, and email list that no marketplace can take away.

Key takeaways

• Etsy closed his account by email about 20 minutes after he logged in from a new computer and IP address, without disclosing specific criteria
• He says his appeal was denied and Etsy treated the decision as final
• He suspects mismatched login locations, including his VA in the Philippines logging in the same day, contributed to the closure
• He also suspects failing to list his new print provider on the store after switching away from Printful was a major mistake
• His response is to move to Shopify and build his own audience and email list rather than relying solely on a marketplace
