Facebook Group Admins | People Spamming The Groups

About this video

In a video aimed at Facebook group admins, Martinez warns that new members sometimes join a group specifically to spam it, blocking all the admins first so their promotional posts and direct messages go unseen. He says his own group has over 21,000 members built over more than two years, and describes spammers as taking advantage of an audience and content the admins and active members built together. He shows how to detect them: go to the group’s Members section and open the ‘Unavailable’ list, which shows people who have blocked you. His response is to remove those members, delete their posts from the previous seven days, and block them so they cannot rejoin, focusing especially on accounts that took the time to add a profile picture, including fake profiles created to spam. He notes spammers may promote products or services unrelated to the group or DM members who posted asking for help, and recommends admins check the unavailable list regularly, acknowledging it takes time and can only be kept up with so much.

Key takeaways

• Spammers often block all group admins after joining so they can promote products or DM members without admins seeing it
• Check for them in the group Members section under ‘Unavailable’ — those are accounts that have blocked you
• Remove such members, delete their posts from the last seven days, and block them from rejoining
• Prioritize accounts with profile pictures in the unavailable list, including fake profiles created to spam
• Repeat this cleanup regularly, as new spammers continue to join large, active groups
