How to Create Transparent Background Images Using ChatGPT & DALL·E (Remove PNG Backgrounds)

About this video

RJ Martinez demonstrates generating print-on-demand designs with real transparent backgrounds using ChatGPT with DALL·E, by ending a prompt with ‘on a transparent background’ instead of black or white. He tests an American flag monster truck design, then a unicorn eating ramen, a vintage sunset boat, a cottagecore frog with a quote, and others including a pizza slice with sunglasses and a cat playing guitar, and verifies transparency by opening the PNG in Photoshop and looking for the checkerboard pattern. He says text rendering and natural-language edits have improved, such as changing colors or wording without starting over. He covers mistakes: conflicting background language can cause glitches, flat results can be improved by uploading an old design and asking ChatGPT to describe it in detail to build a better prompt, and users should always check for transparency. His workflow tips are to treat ChatGPT as a design partner, run multiple chats in parallel, upscale images, and save best prompts by niche or product type. He claims, as the creator’s claim, over $500,000 in royalties over more than eight years as a print-on-demand seller.

Key takeaways

• Add ’transparent background’ to the prompt and remove any mention of black or white background to get a usable transparent PNG
• Verify transparency by opening the file in Photoshop, Canva, or a similar tool and checking for the checkerboard pattern
• Use natural-language edits in ChatGPT to change colors or text instead of regenerating a design from scratch
• If results look flat, upload an existing design and ask ChatGPT to describe it in detail, then use that description as a new prompt
• Save best-performing prompts organized by niche or product type, run multiple chats in parallel, and upscale images before listing
