How to Create Story Books for Kids FAST with ChatGPT and Canva

About this video

A tutorial for making children’s short-story books for KDP, modeled on compilation bestsellers like 365 bedtime stories and 5-minute story collections — he claims one such book earns around $827–$1,115/day in royalties by BookBeam estimates. He notes these books are mostly text (parents read them aloud), with typically one image per chapter, at a standard 6 x 9 inches. Workflow: ask ChatGPT for 10 story topics for ages 9–12, then prompt for a ~300-word story per topic; run each story through a plagiarism checker (free SmallSEOTools, or Grammarly Premium), treating under roughly 6–8% similarity as acceptable, then edit — especially simplifying vocabulary that is too advanced for children — and assemble in Google Docs with a centered, child-friendly title treatment. Chapter images come from Fiverr illustrators ($15–$20), or Midjourney ($10/month, /imagine prompt for a black-and-white comic-style scene, then upscale before downloading). The cover is built in Canva on a template from the book template site (12.47 x 9.25 inches for a 100-page 6x9 book), keeping key elements inside the margins, stating the age range on the cover, and exporting as PDF Print (CMYK with Canva Pro, RGB otherwise).

Key takeaways

• Children’s story compilations are text-led products: one image per chapter is enough
• Generate stories at ~300 words each, plagiarism-check them, and simplify the reading level for kids
• Upscale AI illustrations (e.g. in Midjourney) before downloading for print quality
• State the target age range clearly on the cover — parents are the buyers
• Keep all cover elements inside the template margins so nothing important is trimmed
