I Spent Hundreds Promoting My Book on Fiverr... THIS is What Happened

About this video

In this Fiverr-sponsored test, Sean says Fiverr gave him $600 to spend on 13 book promotion gigs, run April 1-8, tracking each with a unique click link. Most performed poorly: a $45 blog ‘book of the day’ gig got 2 clicks and its site had only 8 monthly visitors per Ubersuggest; a $30 Instagram shoutout got 4 clicks; a $75 three-blog gig got 9 clicks, with two blogs having no traffic; a $35 gig posting to 60 Facebook groups got 2 clicks; $10 blog gigs got 11 and 5 clicks; and a $10 Instagram gig got 2 clicks despite hundreds of likes he says were fake engagement from other promotion pages. Four he recommends: the TikTok gig by Annalize (only 5 tracked clicks, but TikTok users must search manually, and he saw a sales boost that day), Sexy Challenges (57 clicks, promotion up to 90 days), Melrock (a $45 gig, 73 clicks), and best by far Joel Books ($30 premium) with 9,793 organic monthly traffic and 1,900 clicks. He says the promoted book made $1,000 in April, roughly double March. Normally he recommends Amazon ads, book promotion sites and an email list as the 80/20, noting external traffic can help Amazon ranking and backlinks can help a blog.

Key takeaways

• Check a promotion site’s domain rank and actual monthly traffic before buying — being ‘featured’ on a site with no visitors produces no sales.
• Track each gig with a unique link: most of the 13 gigs produced only 2-11 clicks.
• Joel Books was the standout with 1,900 clicks because its site had real traffic (9,793 organic monthly visitors).
• Instagram likes can be fake engagement from other promotion pages rather than real buyers.
• Sean normally recommends Amazon ads, book promotion sites and an email list over Fiverr promotion gigs.
