Creator Profile

Simon Guérard

Simon Guérard is a French-Canadian ultra runner and YouTube documentary filmmaker known as Running with Simon. He holds a PhD and works full-time as a consultant — and somehow averages roughly one 100-mile ultramarathon per month. His mission is to make trail and ultra running accessible, sustainable, and inclusive for everyday people. He films every race from a first-person perspective, giving viewers an honest, unsponsored look at what it actually takes to run 100 miles. Races include Cocodona 250, Tor des Géants, Leona Divide, and dozens more across multiple continents.

These first videos give the page a clear starting point without forcing readers through a long mobile scroll before the rest of the author profile appears.

Pause and orient: Start with the first few videos, then use the next set to decide whether this author deserves a deeper dive. The page should guide the reader, not bury them.

About Simon Guérard

Simon Guérard did not become an ultra runner because he had the right body, the right coach, or the right amount of free time. He became one because he needed something that a busy consulting career with a PhD attached could not provide — the mountains, the views, and the particular clarity that comes from spending 24 to 30 hours alone on a trail.

He describes himself as a pretty average guy and the epitome of a weekend warrior. That is underselling it: he has run 100-mile races at a rate of roughly one per month for years, while maintaining a full-time career and a life outside of running. The logistics alone are staggering. He will drive to a start line on a Friday, run through the night and the next day, and drive home Sunday. No support team. Just a car and a headlamp.

His YouTube channel, Running with Simon, exists entirely to document this from the inside. Every race gets a video. The camera goes wherever he goes — headlamp footage at 2 AM, bonking at mile 80, laughing at something absurd at mile 95. He reviews gear without corporate sponsors, which means the opinions are his. He shares training tips from the same position as his viewers: someone with a real schedule, real constraints, and a genuine love for the sport.

He has run Cocodona 250, Tor des Géants, and a long list of 100-milers across North America and Europe. The goal — 100 races of 100 miles or longer — is a number he chose because it is large enough to require a lifetime. That is the point. He is not building toward a finish. He is building a life around a sport that rewards showing up.
