About Brendon Burchard — High Performance Habits, The Motivation Manifesto, The Charge | Self Growth Videos

Brendon Burchard was born November 4, 1977 in Butte, Montana. The inflection point of his young adult life, which he has told thousands of times in talks and books, came at age 19: he and his then-girlfriend were driving in the Dominican Republic when their car flipped violently off a cliff. Both survived. The moment afterward — sitting on the ground, bleeding, alive, watching the wrecked car — he says gave him three questions that have structured the rest of his life: Did I live? Did I love? Did I matter?

He earned a master’s in organizational communication from the University of Montana and spent his late twenties building corporate leadership training programs. He published The Student Leadership Guide in 2008 and Life’s Golden Ticket in 2008 — a parable-style novel about personal reinvention that found a modest but devoted readership. His commercial breakthrough came with the 2011 book The Millionaire Messenger: Make a Difference and a Fortune Sharing Your Advice — one of the first books to explicitly teach the online expert-course business model that would define the 2010s creator economy.

He followed with The Charge (2012), The Motivation Manifesto (2014), and — his most important book — High Performance Habits: How Extraordinary People Become That Way (2017). The book is built around an unusually rigorous research foundation: a multi-year study of over 30,000 self-identified high performers, analyzed for the specific habits and mindsets that distinguished the top 10% from everyone else. The six habits (Seek clarity, Generate energy, Raise necessity, Increase productivity, Develop influence, Demonstrate courage) became the framework for his High Performance Coaching certification — now one of the largest performance-coaching certification programs in the world, with tens of thousands of certified coaches working under the Brendon Burchard methodology.

Burchard has spoken at Harvard, Yale, MIT, the US Department of Education, and hundreds of corporate audiences. His online course platforms have generated nine figures in revenue and trained hundreds of thousands of students on high-performance principles. He has been featured in Forbes, Success, Entrepreneur, and regularly on Oprah’s SuperSoul Sunday. He is married to Denise Burchard and lives near Sausalito, California.

His central teaching, compressed: high performance is not a gift. It is the output of six trainable habits practiced deliberately over years. The highest performers are not the people with the most talent, the best circumstances, or the longest hours — they are the people who have developed sustained clarity about what matters, who generate their energy rather than consuming it, who feel a sense of necessity about their work, who compound their productivity, who grow their influence by genuinely caring about others, and who demonstrate courage when it costs them something. The habits are the path.
