About Jennifer Cohen — Habits & Hustle Podcast Host, Bestselling Author of Bigger Better Bolder, Celebrity Trainer | Self Growth Videos

Jennifer Cohen built her career on a simple, slightly uncomfortable thesis: most people aren’t held back by talent or circumstance — they are held back by a refusal to ask, in plain language, for what they actually want. Decades of training celebrities, advising founders, and selling companies for tens of millions of dollars made the pattern impossible for her to ignore. She put it into a TEDx talk in 2018. The talk crossed five million views in 2022 and is now past six million on YouTube, with another two million on the TED website. The framing — she calls it the 10% Target Mindset — became the spine of everything she has done since.

She started in fitness. Cohen was an early personal trainer to Hollywood executives and recording artists at a time when private training was still a niche service, and she leveraged that work into a series of brand partnerships and consulting deals that took her into the boardrooms of large consumer-fitness companies. In 2014 she co-founded Hot 5, a fitness app built around the bite-sized, high-intensity workouts she had been writing for clients with no time. Weight Watchers (now WW International) acquired the company in 2015, and Cohen used the exit to pivot into what is now her primary work: helping people — especially women, especially people in the messy middle of their careers — get bolder about asking, doing, and shipping.

Her three books span that arc. Strong Is the New Skinny (2014, co-authored with Stacy Baker Masand) helped reframe the women’s fitness conversation from cosmetics to capability and is still one of the most-recommended general-fitness books for women over thirty. No Gym Required (2009) taught body-weight training to people who had never set foot in a gym. Bigger, Better, Bolder: Live the Life You Want, Not the Life You Get (Hachette Books, 2022) is the synthesis — boldness as a daily, learnable habit, complete with the 10% Target framework, the bite-sized Bold Moves, and case studies from her own life and her network.

Habits & Hustle — her podcast since 2019 — is now part of the YAP Media network and consistently ranks among the top business and self-improvement podcasts on Apple. The guest list reads like a personal Rolodex of the people she has spent twenty years operating alongside: Mark Cuban, Tony Robbins, Bobbi Brown, Matthew McConaughey, Chelsea Handler, Dennis Rodman, Jon McNeill (former president of Tesla), Emily Morse, and dozens more. Cohen’s interview style is the show’s signature — she pushes harder than most hosts, she asks the embarrassing question, and she does not let her guests off easy when the answer is performative.

Beyond the books and the show, she is one of the most-booked motivational speakers in the country for corporate audiences and business schools. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and her two kids, Dylan and Sydney. She has been clear, repeatedly, about the daily writing-and-asking discipline that produced the career — there is no overnight version of what she did, and she does not pretend otherwise.

What makes Cohen worth listening to is the directness. The personal-development space tilts heavily toward soft, affirming language. Cohen’s working assumption is the opposite — that most people are perfectly capable of getting what they want, that the only thing missing is the willingness to look slightly stupid asking for it, and that the cure is volume rather than insight. The 10% Target is the operationalization: aim for the version of the request that has roughly a one-in-ten chance of getting a yes, and ask anyway. The rest, as she frames it, is just a numbers game played by people who have decided not to flinch.
